Bridlington Info.....

Following the meeting after school today - here is the key information about the trips next week.

Order of the Day:

  • Depart school at 9am (or a close as we can!!) - we will be opening the door at 8:40am for the class that is going that day.

  • Arrive in Bridlington at approx 11am - toilet stop will be first!

  • Then dinner in the gardens on South Cliff Road.

  • Approx 12pm - we will begin our walk to the beach via The Spa.

  • 12:30ish - arrive at the beach and change into out beach shoes. Mrs Foster will then go and section off an area of the beach and check for donkey poo!!! The children play within a coned off area on the beach with buckets and spade - we provide them, so they don't need to bring one with them.

  • Children will alternate playing on the beach and paddling in the sea - for the paddle the adults form a semi-circle on the shore and children paddle in front of us.

  • After the beach we get changed if we need to in the nearby toilets.

  • We then enjoy a delicious ice-cream - followed by one last toilet stop and then we walk back to the coach at around 2:15pm

  • We depart Bridlington at 2:30pm and hope to arrive back at school at 4:00pm.

The coach we travel on is fully air-conditioned and each child will have a seat belt - The children are not allowed to eat or drink on the coach and they will be sitting near the adult that is looking after them.

The ratio's for the day are 1:2 - so every child will have a hand to hold! I will not have any children on the day - so I can assist crossing the roads safely and will be available for any emergency should it arise.

Here is a list of things you child will need on the day:

·All children to wear school uniform.
·All children will need a packed lunch – (no fizzy drinks or glass bottles!) in a throw away carrier bag.- no lunch boxes please!! Make sure that everything in the lunch bag is throw away - i.e. no spoons etc!
·All children will need a change of clothes - underwear too!! This doesn't have to uniform - but it would be nice if it was!
·They will need sun cream and a hat if it's hot!
·They will need a waterproof coat if it's going to rain!

PLEASE SEND BOTH OF THE ABOVE TO COVER US FOR ANY WEATHER!! IT'S SO UNPREDICTABLE.
·All children will need a pair of shoes to change into that they can paddle in - jellies or crocs etc.
·If you child doesn't have a change of shoes for the beach, they will not be allowed to paddle.

·Please place the change of clothes, sun cream, hat, waterproof coat and paddling shoes in a separate carrier bag - and again their adult will look after this for them - we don't want the children to carry anything - so no RUCKSACKS please!!

Please bear in mind that the adult who is looking after your child will have two sets of spares to carry, plus their own belongings - so the smaller the bag the better.

When we arrive back at school at approximately 4pm you are welcome to greet us from the coach, but we will be bringing all children back into school to their classroom and do a ‘home time’ routine as normal. We would ask that you walk around the school building to the Cloakroom doors and we will open them as normal when we are ready. You will not be allowed to take your child directly from the coach – I’m sure you will appreciate that this is for your child’s health and safety as we want to make sure everybody goes home with the right person.

I think that covers everything - any questions please leave a comment and I will publish and reply - so everyone can read! It really is a fab day - and the children (and the adults) love it!!! :)

Thank YouMrs Foster

Summer Fair – 1st July

Just a quick reminder that the Summer Fair is after school on Friday 1st July.

BRIDLINGTON TRIP

Dear Parents and Carers

Re: Reception visits to Bridlington

Due to circumstances involving Mrs Foster attending hospital for surgery on Friday 1st July with a return to school date planned for 11th July, the visits to Bridlington planned for the 5th and 6th of July have been brought forward to Thursday 23rd June and Friday 24th June. This means that the date of the Parent Meeting to discuss the visit will also be brought forward to this week; Thursday 16th June at 3.30pm in Mrs Foster’s classroom. (If for any reason you are unable to attend the re-arranged parent meeting relating to the visit, information will be posted on the BLOG for you to read).

Due to the tight timescales, we will need parents to return the completed EVH2 forms by Friday 17th June - thank you to those who have already returned the completed form. If you have any questions relating to completing the EVH2, you may find it helpful to raise these at the meeting on the 16th.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

Week commencing 11th June

Well what a week!! The weather has definitely put us to the test, so we are hoping that we can bring on some more summer sunshine this week!

Topic/Literacy
This week we will be exploring the world of pirates, looking at pirate clips and studying how they dress, what they travel around in and what they do for a job? The children will be making pirate hats, patches and creating treasure maps. We will be making our own pirate ship, walking the plank and even digging for buried treasure!! The children will learn about some famous pirates and will have the opportunity to dress-up too. If you have any old pirate costumes or accessories etc... you don't need anymore then we would be very grateful. We also would like to encourage the children to bring in their favourite pirate stories if they have any at home for us to share in class.

Numeracy
This week we will be revisiting 1 more and 1 less than, comparing quantities and practicing counting accurately up to 20 objects and beyond. The children will be working collaboratively building pirate ships from Lego and counting how many blocks they have altogether, combining their blocks to create a new total. We will be focusing on our teen numbers in particular looking at the 2digit number and how it is formed with the ten always coming first.

Phonics
We will be consolidating our knowledge of long vowels ai, ee,igh, oa, oo and reading and writing words with these sounds. The children will be digging for laminated coins in the sand and reading the words and sentences in pairs and if they don't get it right they will walk the dreaded plank!!!

BRIDLINGTON
The children are getting very excited about our Brid trip just a reminder New York Class will be going on the 5th July and Athens on the 6th. We do need your consent forms in urgently, which MUST contain your child's National Insurance Number, this can be obtained from your doctor's surgery otherwise we will be unable to take your child with us on the trip.

OPEN DAY
Our next open day will be on Friday 8th of July, we will put up a sheet to remind you all nearer the time so you can sign up for either a morning or an afternoon session. This is sadly our last open day of the year.

JUMP UP DAY
On Tuesday the 19th July the children will be spending a day with their new class teacher. They will get the opportunity to visit their new classroom and do some fabulous work with their new class teacher for the day!! I am sure they will have lots of fun.

Thank-you to those of you who have provided holiday photos for our holiday display boards, and if you look in the classrooms in the morning you will see the pictures have already been displayed. See you tomorrow....

Please remember to complete your parent’s feedback forms. We appreciate all feedback - although we often feel that those of you who are happy with what we do can forget to tell us that! Please remember that the deadline for returning the forms is Wednesday. Thanks.
